about
"The Year of the Rabbit” is taken from their upcoming 3rd album Mount Matsu (out January 19th, 2024), the first album by the band that was born through a truly democratic process between four befriended musicians. The album's highly energetic, (mostly) instrumental sound, is defined by warm and tapey psychedelic disco, fat global funk, retro electronics and tribal experiments.
Hailing from Holland’s southernmost city of Maastricht, Yīn Yīn entered the scene back in 2019 with the Thai psych-rock influenced album The Rabbit that Hunts Tigers, which was followed up in 2022 with the more spiritual and cosmic sounding The Age of Aquarius. Mount Matsu finds the band - who now live and record in a nearby Belgian countryside home and studio – morphing their sound to include pentatonic scales, vintage synthesizers, huge dynamics and a deep dive into Japanese musical motifs.

This music turned me into the ginger version of Shaft! Rocking funk-tastic with alot of eastern sounds to it! a energizing yet mellow vibe to them! John Chaos Alexander
